Tshediso Matona
Tshediso Matona is the Director-General of the National Department of Trade and Industry. He was the deputy DG for International Trade from 2002 to 2005 and previously chief trade negotiator for key trade agreements such as with the WTO, the EU and the US. He served as a trade diplomat in 1996 to 1998 in the SA mission to the UN and the WTO in Geneva, Switzerland. He also served as a member of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Commission on Intellectual Property Rights and Public Health from 2004 to 2006. He currently serves on the boards of a number of public policy bodies.
Matona holds graduate degrees in Economics from UCT, an MA in Development Economics from the University of East Anglia (UK), a diploma in International Trade Policy & Law from Harvard University J F Kennedy School of Government and a certificate in International Trade from the University of Maastricht.
