The SADC Trade Development Project, a three-year partnership between the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and TIPS, was created to conduct a number of research projects on trade reform in Southern Africa. A substantial portion of TIPS' activities in this regard has been focused on capacity-building to address the relatively low levels of analytical capacity in countries in the region. TIPS' online SADC Trade database and its related training courses - implemented for SADC Member States to improve policy-makers' and researchers' access to up-to-date and reliable trade data - have been developed in close partnership with the SADC Secretariat.
