Tralac is a not-for-profit organisation, building trade law capacity in the southern Africa region; in governments, the private sector and civil society.
In 2004, Tralac, in co-operation with TIPS, conducted a study on South Africa's intellectual property rights needs for the purposes of South Africa's offensive and defensive trade negotiations with the US. In addition, Ron Sandrey, a Tralac senior research fellow, researched the impact on non-tariff measures for South and Southern Africa for TIPS. The findings were published in the TIPS Trade & Industry Monitor of December 2003 (www.tips.org.za/monitor).
