Tiro joined TIPS in June 2014. His interest in business studies started in high school when he chose accounting, economics and business economics as subjects. He then went to the Universal College of Outcomes to study for a Diploma in Bookkeeping. He has completed short courses in financial management for non-government organisations (NGOs), taxes for NGO, project management, and a course on conflict transformation.
Before joining TIPS, he was employed as the Finance Manager for TVEP, a non-profit trust in Limpopo. He worked for the ACTION Support Centre as a finance assistance before being promoted first to bookkeeper and then to operations manager. He has also assisted other NGOs with bookkeeping and tax returns.
Tiro is from the West Rand and his hobbies include singing. He has sang in different community choirs and also participated in an opera production and national choir festival. He remains a committed church and choir member at St Peters Catholic Church in Kagiso.
